Squirrels

Squirrels - 4 to 6 years

We’re starting a new provision for four and five year olds called Squirrels, to help young people gain skills for life at a time when it matters most and where it's most needed.

We have opened a brand-new Squirrel Drey at Christ Church – Girls and Boys aged 4-6yrs. The last few weeks have seen Squirrels getting to know each other and discovering what being a Squirrel is all about.

 

One of the fun things Squirrels enjoy is working towards Badges – and our Squirrels helped to choose our first Badges to work towards

It’s great to encourage our younger members to be involved in decision-making. Our Squirrels decided on -

Being Active Badge – We have played a Variety of Games using Parachutes, Balloons to name but a few – Our Squirrels love playing Games – It was great to see Our Squirrels take the Lead in Organising and Leading Games.

Adventure Badge - We started this Badge with a fun Photo Trail outside the Church -Looking for Bugs and Minibeasts…… We were looking forward to some more Outdoor Adventures.

Christ Church Beavers kindly invited the Squirrels to explore some Reptiles –

We were able to hold and touch/Stroke –

  • Bearded Dragon – who was very big but nowhere near full size!
  • Gecko’s
  • Leopard Kimono Gecko – A beautiful Rainbow Coloured Lizard with Leopard Spots

Our squirrels learnt about them, what they eat, how they live, how old they are, and much more. It was so lovely to see Beavers and Squirrels enjoying a fun night together.
